Smart Home Lighting & Automation in New Jersey

Lights, shades, climate and security that work together, from one app or one button.

Smart Home & Lighting Automation, example installation by Smart Tech

A smart home should make the house easier to live in, not give you another five apps to learn. We design systems around how you actually use your home: one button for good night, lights that come on when you pull into the driveway, shades that close in the afternoon sun.

We install smart home and smart building systems for homes and businesses across New Jersey, in new construction and in finished homes.

Smart lighting control

Lighting is where most clients start. We replace wall switches with smart dimmers and engraved keypads, set up scenes for each room and each time of day, and connect outdoor and landscape lighting to schedules. In finished homes, wireless systems let us add smart lighting without opening walls.

Shades, climate and whole-home control

Motorized shades and blinds, smart thermostats and HVAC integration, door locks, doorbells, cameras and audio, all in one app and on keypads around the house. Voice control works with Alexa, Google and Siri.

Commercial and building automation

For offices and commercial spaces we install lighting control with occupancy and daylight sensors, scheduling and energy monitoring, so lights and climate are only on when the space is used.

How a project works

We meet with you in the home, room by room, and write down what you want each space to do. You get a system design and written estimate. We install, program the scenes and schedules, and come back after a couple of weeks to fine-tune once you have lived with it.

What affects the price

The number of rooms and lighting loads, keypads versus simple dimmers, whether shades and climate are included, the control platform you choose, and whether the home is under construction or finished. The estimate is room by room so you can start with the main living areas and add more later.

Why NJ clients pick Smart Tech

We have been doing low-voltage work since 2004, from our office in Kenilworth, NJ. The technicians on your job are BICSI-trained and manufacturer-certified, and we are fully insured.

We answer the phone, we show up when we say we will, and we leave the ceiling and the closet cleaner than we found them. Every job ends with a walk-through, a short training session and documentation you can hand to the next person who needs it. For critical systems we offer 24/7 emergency support.

Most of our work is in Union, Essex and Morris counties, and we take projects across New Jersey and in parts of New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

Frequently Asked

  • Can you add smart lighting to a finished home without rewiring?

Yes. Wireless lighting systems replace the existing switches and dimmers in place, with no new wiring in most rooms.

  • Does it work with Alexa, Google or Siri?

Yes. We connect the system to the voice assistant you already use.

  • What happens if the internet goes down?

Keypads, scenes and schedules keep working locally. You only lose remote control from outside the house until the internet is back.

  • Can cameras, locks and the doorbell be in the same app?

Yes. Most control systems we install bring cameras, locks, doorbells, climate and audio into one app.

  • Can I start small and add more later?

Yes. Many clients start with lighting in the main rooms and add shades, climate and audio over time.
